The Righteous Mind
Connor Johnson
In the depths of our minds,
Lies a world of ideas and thoughts,
A labyrinth of beliefs and biases,
That shapes the way we see the world.
The so called righteous mind
Takes us on a journey to explore,
The moral foundations of our being,
And the values that we hold dear.
It tells of the moral matrix,
A complex web of ideologies,
That define the left and the right,
And the way we approach society.
It speaks of the elephant and the rider,
The instinctive and rational minds,
That guide us in our moral judgments,
And shape the stories we define.
It speaks of the importance of community,
And the role it plays in our beliefs,
Of how our emotions and intuitions,
Are intertwined with what we perceive.
For in the end, our ideas and beliefs,
Are but a reflection of who we are,
And as we seek to understand ourselves,
We learn to respect the views of others afar.
So let us delve into our righteous mind,
And seek to understand the roots of our convictions,
For in doing so, we may find,
A way to bridge the gaps of our divisions.
